KDC is launching a new development programme on Direct Payments for local people who receive mental health services , family carers and Personal Assistants.
The programme will have the following features;
We want to update our KDC Webpages for Direct Payments & Mental Health . It is out of date and in need of a refresh . We are interested in new information & guidance , local stories and experiences of receiving Direct Payments , articles and other areas of interest
A new information leaflet – Our current leaflet “ Direct Payments can help you manage your recovery and keep well “ was created six years ago in collaboration with professionals from the 5BP Assertive Outreach team and people using mental health services . We want to create and produce a new leaflet together with local people using mental health services , family carers and interested professionals . It will be all about co-production , however , we did some work on this last year so we do have some materials to build from.
A collaboration with FACE/ Face Forward to offer training to Personal Assistants in “ Awareness of Mental Health Problems – NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate “ This will be a bespoke course delivered to interested Personal Assistants in the Knowsley area . We will also be promoting the “ Face Forward Recovery Partnership Courses “ through our social media and networks and much more , watch this space and follow KDC on twitter @knowsleydisabil for updates and progress reports
Later this month, Knowsley Adult Social Care, Children’s Social Care, and Knowsley CCG will be implementing a new Direct Payments Policy, practitioner guidance, service user guidance, process maps and an overhaul of systems and processes. We anticipate that this will build an effective platform to move forward with the offer of Direct Payments. People with experience of using mental health services say that they want to be in control of their own lives, and of the support they need. Direct Payments are the opportunity to make this a reality, and provide a much wider range of choices to what is available from statutory services.
