The Learning Disability Coalition’s contract for the future ‘Agreeing Together’ has 15 agreements. The agreements say what needs to happen to make things better for people with a learning disabiltiy over the next 10 years.
Many individuals and organisations are signing to say that we all agree that everyone should;
-be valued and treated equally and fairly.
-know about and understand learning disability.
-be safe and live free from fear and hate crime.
-be supported to speak for themselves or have someone who can speak for them.
-have information in a way that they can understand it.
-be part of communities which support them and to be able to help others as well.
-be able to get out and about cheaply and safely.
-be supported in their family life, relationships and friendships.
-have a holiday and a social life.
-have enough money to live a reasonable life.
-have something to do and the chance of a job.
-have a choice of where to live.
-have the support they need including staff who are trained to do their job properly.
-have good quality healthcare.
-be supported to have an independent life and be able to make their own decisions.
