Get involved in a new Government disability strategy
Where?
Kirkby Leisure Centre, Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby
L32 8SJ
When?
Wednesday 29 February 10am to 3pm (lunch provided)
KDC has been invited to contribute directly to a new cross-government disability strategy.
The Government has published a discussion document with questions and we want to gather your views, to make sure we represent the experiences of people in Knowsley with learning disabilities.
We want to talk about practical ideas that will make a real difference to your life.
The Government has asked us to focus on three areas:
1. realising aspirations
2. increasing individual control
3. changing attitudes and behaviours.
We will be looking for views and ideas about what support disabled people need when things change in their lives at these times:
– Going to school or college
– Becoming an adult
– Getting a job
– Moving into your own home
– When people get an impairment
– Changes in later life, like retirement
We will send a report of our event to the Government. They will look at everyone’s suggestions and work with disabled people to publish a new strategy in spring next year.
