A further three new extra care development schemes will be delivered in Knowsley over the next two years.
Approximately 231 extra care homes will be created at three sites across the borough – Albany Road in Prescot (the former watch making factory), Bluebell Park in Huyton and Derby Court in Halewood. The three sites offer excellent accessibility to local services and transport links.
Work has already started on the developments in Huyton and Halewood and work will start on the former watch making factory on Albany Road, Prescot in the summer.
Extra care housing is a type of sheltered housing designed to meet the needs of those with housing, support and care needs. The range in Knowsley includes apartments and bungalows which have been designed and adapted to meet the need of the occupants.
Cllr Dave Lonergan, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said “These new extra care developments support our priority to ensure services, choice and independence are available for older people. The new homes will provide residents with the benefits of personal space and independence, whilst also having the reassurance and sense of community that comes with shared spaces and 24 hour assistance.”
